INVITATION TO ATTEND FROM JALENE FORBIS - PACIFIC REGION VP, MIKE OGBORN - CENTRAL REGION VP, AND ALAN MATHESON - MEETING CHAIR
As ASLRRA's Regional Vice Presidents and Meeting Chair, we are delighted to encourage you to attend and participate in this year's joint regional meeting in Seattle, Washington. Your Meeting Planning Committee has focused all of its energies on creating a valuable educational experience, full of opportunities to network and learn something new, while remaining mindful of the many commitments vying for your time and attention.

This meeting will provide a great mix of business and social activities starting on the social side with an optional baseball game on Sunday afternoon (Mariners v. the Yankees), and continuing with receptions on Sunday and Monday evenings. Monday's reception will be held at the Columbia Tower Club, located on the top floors of the tallest building west of the Mississippi. On the business end of the program, and new to the educational lineup this year, is a simultaneous training session covering track and bridge topics of interest to the small railroad industry. Both sessions will enjoy breakfast, lunch and breaks in our event sponsor exhibit area. This event embraces all of the education, industry news, and social events that you've come to expect from an ASLRRA meeting.
After the great response to last year's Habitat for Humanity event, we have partnered with the Tacoma Municipal Belt Line and Habitat for Humanity to help build a habitat house on Saturday, August 15, from 7:00am - 3:00pm. We hope that you'll join us and participate in this program and help us to leave the city a little better than we found it, while networking and getting to know your fellow ASLRRA members better.
Coffee capital of America, Seattle is a city of views. Vistas of shimmering skyscrapers, water, forests, and mountains are visible at every turn. The snowy peaks of the Olympic Mountains shimmer on the far side of Puget Sound, while ferryboats come and go across Elliott Bay. Home to the 1962 World's Fair, you can ride the monorail to Hemisphere Park and ride the elevator to the top of the Space Needle, the city's homage to what they envisioned life to be like in the 21st Century. Seattle is a vibrant city with a bustling downtown and you'll find that Seattleites manage to overcome minor inconveniences like rain, in large part by spilling out into the streets and parks whenever the sun shines.
The Westin Hotel, site of this year's meeting, features smoke-free rooms affording panoramic views of the Puget Sound, Space Needle, Cascade Mountains, and Seattle's cityscape. Conveniently located in the bustling financial and shopping district, and walking distance from Pike Place Market, the Monorail and Space Needle, and the Mariner's Safeco Field.
So don't miss out on this opportunity to meet with your peers, while sharing ideas and networking with others in the industry. Make plans to head to Seattle where we're working on building a strong program complete with new features and activities to help you connect. We sincerely look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to this conference.
